Ann  Tholsted

From the linernotes of the Lp:

Ann Tholsted showed up on the Danish folk scene in the spring 1968. With her guitar, charm and a warm sounding voice she got an overnight success and at once attained a sure position among the best of the Danish folksingers.

'Vise Vers Huset' in Tivoli included Ann Tholsted in the opening program in May. Nobody knew this new lark, but everybody listened - and listened with pleasure. A new young talent had started her career, which to everybody seems to become a remarkable one.

In 'Vise Vers Huset' Ann met the guitar player, Hans Gregersen Dal (classical guitar, but surprisingly versatile). He has arranged the music for this record, besides that he himself plays the single guitar. As an arranger Hans Gregersen Dal is a new name, but as you can hear, he knows what he is doing. He possesses very high musical abilities and has shown feeling and fantasy for this job.

Ann is twenty years old, she is self-taught as well as a singer as a guitar player, and she is a composer and a lyric writer too. You will find three of her songs on this record. 'Living Cherry', 'Dreaming' and 'The Love We Caught'.

Her interest in folk music is of old date. You feel, she gets her inspiration from many different places and many different artists, but all the same she never copies anyone. She finds the music and transforms it in her own beautiful head and performs her songs so that you feel that they belong to her.

Ann does not think that she will be able to change the world with a song. She is quite right, but all the same she can make the world a little more beautiful and a little more gay with her songs. That is still something of a change.

Mørks Musikforlag started her with her first success, her very personal recording of 'Master Jack', and at once made a long term contract with this international artist.
